Hey there,
How’s it going? I hope you’re doing well!
I just wanted to take a minute to tell you a little about myself, but before I do that let me tell you what FitnessBusinessInterviews.com (FBI) is all about.
Simply put it’s about helping you build your fitness business.
If you didn’t know, the average personal trainer makes less than $30k a year, and works insane hours training people they can’t stand. Then they burn out, and do one of two things.
I’ve seen it a bunch.
If you’re one of the smart ones you went out and started your own business. Or you’re planning on it.
But now you realize that it’s not just about training. There is a whole other world that you have to learn. The “how do I grow my business world.”
And learning what it takes to make a business successful can take quite a while.
That’s where FitnessBusinessInterviews.com (FBI) comes in.
This site is going to help you grow your business at ludicrous speed (haha Spaceballs reference).
If you’ve looked around there are a bunch of options that can help you build your fitness business. But nothing where you will get direct access to multiple fitness entrepreneurs, and have them share their secrets all in one place.
So FBI is going to give you the best quality info and do it with interviews from top fitness pros.
So sit back and enjoy the awesome content that will help you grow your business and live the life you want.
A Bit About Me And How This Website Came About
Ok, so I want to be upfront right off the bat.
I broke the cardinal rule of being a fitness pro.
I let my health fall apart. Although it was kinda outta my control.
Basically, a while back I got really sick. I figured it was nothing, and tried to muscle through it. Then one day I woke up and I couldn’t walk, my stomach was killing me, I couldn’t eat anything, and was in the worst pain ever.
Me being stubborn, I figured it was nothing and tried to keep on going. I held out for a few months.
Bad Idea.
Next thing I know I was being admitted to the hospital and the doctors were telling me that if I waited another day…
I wouldn’t have made it.
I needed emergency surgery to fix everything, but I was so messed up they couldn’t risk doing it. So I had to wait (not eat anything for 8 weeks, get pumped full of drugs), then go back to get all fixed up.
That’s what I did, and this laid me out for a long time. The worst part was because my health sucked I had to close my businesses. (I didn’t have all my systems in place yet to keep em’ going without me).
Since the doctors told me I had to live like I was in a plastic bubble I didn’t know what to do with myself. It had to be something where there wasn’t a lot of stress or strain.
So that is how the idea for FBI came about.
I wanted the site to be able help others. Especially with their businesses.
Since I didn’t run monster 6 or 7 figure businesses, I wanted to find the fitness entrepreneurs who did. Then ask em’ how they did it, record the conversations, and post them for you.
Oh, and just so ya know, I’m gonna be adding these killer interviews and content as much as I can. That way you can get to where you want to be as fast as possible.
Also make sure you check back constantly, because there are all kinds of cool interviews, events, posts, and crazy things going on
I’m looking forward to helping you grow your fitness business, and hearing about how things are going.

Nice job Erik! Let me know how I can help you.
Peter

Hey Erik, I really appreciate your site. You have done a great thing here and I think it is just brilliant. Thank you for having the courage to leap into a bright new idea like this.
Sincerely,
Leslie
Hey Leslie,
Thanks so much for the awesome feedback. I really appreciate it. I’m glad that you
are liking the site, and are getting good value out of it.
If there is anything you need, don’t hesitate to ask.
hi! I found you through your interview with Dustin at Fit Marriage. First of all, I never admit this because, well, it just never comes up since my friends are the ones GETTING interviewed, but I’m a huge interviewer snob and you did an *AMAZING* job interviewing him! Seriously. I’m extremely impressed and thought you did a slam dunk job.
Secondly, I just wanted to say that you’re my kindred spirit in what you’re doing…the only difference is that I’m on the mental health side, helping therapists market themselves.
I too have been horribly sick (in 2009 I was on bedrest for 4 months with 3 surgeries, good times.) I appreciate the medical side of things and in fact that’s where I have this undying passion to help figure out my own bodily issues (and there are many!) and get more people fit (myself included.) A blog post a while back I was actually on the ACE website (I believe that’s the directory?) and did an entire blog post comparing personal trainer searches to searching for therapists.
I’m going to stalk you some more and see if you’re on Twitter. =) I’m at @marriagekids
I think there are tremendous parallels in what we’re doing and in the problems personal trainers and therapists experience in finding motivated clients, marketing, etc. I will also send my personal trainer friend your way! She wants to start her own thing and you’re the perfect website for her.
Hey Elizabeth,
Thanks for the huge compliment! It definitely made my day.
I hope that after what you’ve been through that you are feeling much better
and are able to enjoy some of the best things in life.
I checked out your site and I appreciate everything your doing to help others.
Keep up the awesome work.
Let me know if there is anything I can do for you.
Great job on the site! It is nicely organized, easily accessible, and easy to navigate. I like that you added personal touches and comedy so it is also fun to read. I think this is an excellent resource for people trying to grow a fitness business. It is excellent that you have so many influential people on one site. It is great that people do not have to go around from site to site. They can just come to your site and get useful and relevant information.
Thanks so much for the great comment Lindsay. I really appreciate the support and I am glad that the site has been helpful to you.
Hi Eric, what a cool and different website! I expect it to grow. I look forward to your interviews. I usually listen while I’m in the kitchen whipping up dinner. I have my pad and pencil nearby because I know I’ll get some great ideas. Thanks so much! I appreciate it.
I hope you are taking good care of yourself now and listening to your body. Aloha, Robin
Hey there Robin.
Thanks a lot. That’s cool to know you’ve got a pencil and pad nearby to write down great ideas. Let me know if you ever need any help with those ideas!
Now you KNOW your health is your greatest wealth. The goal is to be healthy, wealthy and wise. Let’s talk about 2-second stretching for body & mind. Thanks for being here!
Great story, Erik and I admire your perseverance and commitment.
Great to meet you this weekend and best of luck!
David
Thanks David. I was good meeting you too, and I wish you the best of luck with everything. If I can help you in anyway, just let me know.
Great story and website!
Thanks for sharing Erik. Good lesson for all fitness professionals to learn from. What’s that old greek proverb by Hippocrates? Doctor heal thy self? Be well.
Thanks for the comment Richard, I really appreciate it. I wish you the best of health and success.
