    • Erik

Thanks Jonathan. Let me know if you ever need any help with anything!

  11. LOVE the names! I missed a couple, but understand as you said you had to cap it. I would have loved to see John Brookfield (literally a legend in the industry who keeps rebirthing himself into new capacities, plus he is the nicest guy ever…powerropes and battling ropes wouldn’t even be on the fitness map without him) and John Hinds (Jungle Gym Fitness and Eischen’s Yoga Master, this guy has had more ideas and inventions stolen from him than most of the people on this list, that being said, he kills it with innovative products). I was wondering what the criteria was to get on the list?
    Revenue?
    Innovation?
    Trending?
    Any hard numbers?

Love the list, but not sure how one would strive to get on it?

    • Erik

      Hey Aaron,

Thanks buddy. Those guys are doing some amazing things. The list was based on my knowledge, conversations with fit pros, and a ton of research.

Oh, and my special ranking code provided by Google. :)

    • And what about Aaron Guyett, that dude is a mad man… maybe in part two

      • Erik

Yup, Aaron is another one. He’s got one helluva business in OC. It’s looking like there needs to be a part 2!

  12. Thanks Erik, It was nice of you to compile this list – and include me! There certainly are many great people making a difference. Iam thrilled to call most of them my friends. Lets keep leaving a legacy!
    Be well.

    • Erik

      Hey Kelli,

Thanks. Your doing really well and you are “making a difference.” Keep it up!

  13. Pat Smith

Interesting list. Could you post the criteria you used to come up with the list? Was it revenue, number of people postively impacted, etc?

    -and much more.

    • Erik

      Hey there Pat,

Thanks for letting me know about David.

That’s a great question too. It was a combination of what I knew, conversations with people in the industry, and some major research.

Unfortunately, sometimes people are missed on anything that is like this. Definitely not my intention.

I have a list of more people, but I had to cap it at 100. I probably would have pulled out every hair on my head if I did any more.

Let me know if there is anything I can to help you out.

  14. Erik,

    Great list.

Thank you so much for putting it together.

Nice list. But no Phil Kaplan? He was the pioneer for many of the ones listed.

    • Erik

Yeah, very true! With lists it’s always tough to have everyone. If I had everyone the list would be at 1,000 and still some wouldn’t fit. Hahaha…. that would have taken 3 years to do!

I appreciate the kind words. Keep rockin’ man. Your killing it.

  32. Wow Erik, This list is incredible! Its like a directory of awesome. I just stumbled on it by accident. I can really appreciate how much time and research you must have put into this. Great job man. I just bookmarked this as my new “fit pro directory”

Thanks and great video by the way. It kept me engaged and smiling. :)

Thanks Brian I appreciate the awesome comment. I’m glad this was something of value to you.

That is an inspiring list. It’s cool to see a lot of the fitness/business professionals I have been following over the years on the list.

  34. Thanks for the list of role models. Good peeps to measure our standards with.

Since this article was first posted, Marc Lebert, about midway in this list, certaily hasn’t let any grass grow under him. In addition to the versatile fitness products he develops and sells around the world, he has literally founded his own fitness nation! His new gym, opened recently, called FitnessNATION. Shows every sign of being just as innovative as his Equalizer, buddy System and Stretch Strap. It’s in the Toronto area. Check it out at http://www.gofitnessnation.com.

  36. Matt Taylor

Yo dude some great trainers on the list. I noticed vince delmonte on there but not Ben Pakulski (pac man); he trained vince in the months before his WBFF Male fitness model contest that earnt him his PRO card. Ben is a very smart and respected trainer.

Cool…Good to know Matt. If I do another list I’ll look into Ben and see what he’s done. Thanks for the comment.

  37. You missed one….and a big one that should have been in your top three…..Ever Read Four Hour Body? or Four Hour Chef? or Four Hour Work Week?…>Ever Heard of Timothy Ferris……jeez whats he gotta do other than publish 3 New York Times Best Sellers, have a blog in the top o.ooooo1% of all blogs online….I am willing to bet if you polled your top 100, they would also agree you dropped the ball. I understand you can tget them all on there…..but how many 3 times NYC Bestsellers made the list???

    • Erik

Good catch Jared. He’s definitely done a lot on the health and fitness side of things. As for the 3 time bestseller, I believe when this list was posted he only had 4 hour work week out, and was just launching 4 hour body. I could be wrong on the dates though, so don’t quote me on it. So at the time, I hadn’t thought of him as a guy for the health and fitness side of things.

Louie Simmons is missing on this list!
